COVID COMMUNITY CHALLENGE

Join our virtual running events each week throughout the covid-19 crisis. Running as a ritual and a practice can be a centering and stabilizing force in our lives. As our traditional communities are disrupted by social distancing and isolation, join us in a commitment to claim creativity, clarity and joy amidst our present uncertainties.

How to Participate

  1. Each Sunday we’ll send out an email to all participants that will describe the upcoming weeks challenge. Challenges will vary each week, including themed activities, creative running challenges, and maybe even a virtual 5K.
  2. Participants will have until the next email to complete the activity. That means you have one week to finish each running event.
  3. The same email will also give participants the opportunity to report, via an honor system, whether or not they completed the previous week’s challenge.

Why Participate

Intrinsic Incentives

Simply completing each week's challenge will provide intrinsic rewards. Challenges will frequently be physical in nature and connected to running exploits, but they will also be designed to foster community, creativity, and a more mindful approach to these uncertain times.

Weekly Prizes

Each challenge will be accompanied with a weekly prize. The winner will be drawn at random from everyone who completed that week's running event and announced midweek on Aspire’s social channels.

The Grand Prize

The Corona virus will end! When it does we are celebrating by giving away a free entry, good for any of Aspire’s 2020-2021 trips. Each weekly challenge completed counts towards an additional entry in the final draw.

Why this is important

The coronavirus is disrupting our lives in unprecedented ways. This new reality comes with huge health, economic, and social uncertainties. The extent and severity of these impacts will vary, but it will affect all of us. Our heartfelt support is with those who are directly battling this virus in hospitals, labs, homes, and institutions of influence.

In the wake of so much uncertainty it is easy to feel afraid, disoriented, angry, and uncertain. While we expect that individually and collectively humanity will rise to the challenge, the weight of daily uncertainty can be a heavy burden. We hope that your participation in the Covid Community Challenge will be a respite and a source of connection in an altogether unpredictable time in our lives.

Fine Print
