50K and 25K
Come enjoy some early summer moderate mountain routes through the North Cascades! Get your boat taxi on and run the day away!
Situated in the North Cascades National Park, the Ross Lake Rally offers a pair of runs that blend early season mountain access, moderate elevation, and spectacular trails along the shores of Ross Lake. After an initial evening dinner, orientation, and overnight at the Colonial Creek Campground runners are shuttled via water taxi to two respective starts/trails and subsequently wander their way lakeside back to a well stocked basecamp finish.
For topographical route information, elevation profiles, and a downloadable GPX file of the route, visit our Caltopo Ross Lake Rally Trail Map

Our basecamp will be staged out of the Colonial Creek campground inside the North Cascades National Park. Aspire will provide lively camp amenities for a remote but comfortable “glamp” style experience. Runners will need to provide or rent a personal tent, sleeping bag, pad, etc.
This trip begins and ends at the Colonial Creek Campground. It will be possible to carpool with other runners or to arrange ride into camp with the Aspire crew from Burlington WA. If we have sufficient demand from out of town runners we can provide an Aspire shuttle from SeaTac Airport.
Friday, Day 1: Meet at Colonial Creek Campground
Runners are welcome to arrive at Colonial Creek anytime after 4pm. Aspire will host an evening meal and review the route, logistics, and gear choices as runners make final preparations for the run.
Saturday, Day 2: 25K 4,500′ of Elevation Gain, 50K 5,500′ of Elevation Gain
50K: From Colonial Creek Runners are transported to the Happy Panther trailhead, which quickly descends to the shores of Ross Lake. A boat taxi shuttles folks to the northern end of the Ross Lake. Before joining the 25K course this run climbs up to Hozemeen Lake, meandering through old growth forest and following soft single track along raging creeks full of spring snowmelt.
25K: Like the 50K runners are shuttled to the trail head that leads to the Ross Lake boat taxi. Their boat shuttle terminates at Lightening Creek where they pick up the East Bank trail for 15 miles of rolling lakeside trail and spectacular mountain views.
Both of these runs finish at Highway 20 where an Aspire shuttle brings folks back into the Colonial Creek basecamp. Here Aspire will serve up appetizers, drinks, and a delicious evening meal.
