Course Description

As one of the high country’s lowest elevation courses, this is an early season appetite wetter for alpine adventures. Scenic and subdued this course offers up lakeside views of snowcapped peaks, quiet forests and enchanting waterfalls. From the Ross Dam parking lot at Hwy 20, the trail descends to the lake shore, turns east and follows the Ruby Arm of Ross Lake. At lake terminus the course crosses Hwy 20 and joins the Panther Creek trail. Enjoy the climb along rushing creeks to alpine views atop the 4th of July Pass and then a steep decent to Diablo Lake.

Itinerary

This is a single-day course. The following schedule is a tentative outline for making travel arrangements. Aspire is committed to providing exceptional service and support to ensure an unforgettable experience.

8:00am.  Convene in Burlington WA. I-5 Exit#232. Meet in the parking lot of Bob’s Burgers and Brews: 9440 Old Hwy 99 N, Bow, WA 98232. Look for the green Suburban with “Aspire Adventure Running” decals.

10:30.  Drop runners at Happy Panther trailhead. Estimated travel time 4-7 hours.

 2:30-6:30.  Food, Fire, Drink, Relaxation at Colonial Creek Campground

7:00.  Return to Burlington.

8:30.  Drop off in Burlington

Gear

Running Gear

Each runner should come equipped with a personal running pack/vest, hydration system, water filtration, and personal snacks. Aspire has a selection of bars, gels, electrolytes etc. available, but we also encourage folks to bring foods that they are accustomed to for long runs. Running clothing should include a system that includes, a wind/waterproof jacket and an insulative layer.

Drop Bag

A bag of post-run clothing options that includes a down/synthetic jacket, wind/water resistant outer layer, dry clothing, and dry shoes.
